WHATS ALL THE BUZZ?

Everyone's talking about the plus-size model in Glamour magazine's September issue. Why all the talk? Because she's beautiful, confident, comfortable in her own skin and, yes seemingly unretouched in all her realistic semi-nude glory.

According to the article by Glamour's editor in chief, when the magazine hit newsstands, messages poured in supporting the magazine's choice in publishing the picture.  And the buzz continues, as women everywhere feel compelled to share their gratitude to see a plus-size woman celebrating her body.

At Catherines, we salute this lovely woman for having the confidence and personal power to show off her plus size curves. Kudos, also, to the editors of Glamour who ran the photo in conjunction with a story about body confidence. But we can't help but ask: why is it so unusual to see a size 12-14 woman feeling great about her body?

After all, the average woman today wears a size 14 and Catherines has been celebrating the beauty and confidence of plus-size women for almost five decades. We're proud to offer a size scale that begins where most others end, giving women from sizes 16-34 a breadth of exciting fashion options. What's more, we stay true to our customers by using models who are plus size themselves.

So, let the media frenzy fly. Let the talking heads talk. And the bloggers blog. We're happy to see the world waking up to what we've all known all along. Real women wear plus sizes, and they are beautiful, confident and--with a little help from Catherines--amazingly fashionable.
